Daniel Dickinson (1795-c.1866) was Anson Dickinson's younger and equally talented
brother. Dickinson studied in Hartford with Nathaniel Jocelyn, before moving
to Philadelphia in 1818, where he quickly established himself as a top miniaturist,
exhibiting at both the Pennsylvania Academy and the Art Fund Society. His sitters
included fellow artist John Neagle (Metropolitan Museum of Art).
