Jane McLennan (1898-1939) was born in Lake Forest, Illinois, the daughter of Catherine Cole Noyes and Donald Roderick McLennan, founder of the brokerage firm Marsh & McLennan.

Anna Lynch (1865-1946) studied in Paris with Bouguereau, Debillemont, Cottet and Simon before returning to her native Chicago. Lynch was a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Miniature Painters, the Chicago Society of Miniature Painters and the Chicago Society of Artists. She exhibited at Paris Salon de la Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts, Annual Exhibition of Oil Paintings & Sculpture by American Artists, International Water Color Exhibition, Panama-Pacific Exposition, San Francisco, 1915 (Bronze medal), and the Chicago Society of Artists. In 1906, the Art Institute of Chicago presented a solo show "Exhibition of Miniatures by Miss Anna Lynch."
