Dimensions: 14 inches high. Frame size 22 7/8 x 18 7/8.

Alfred Edward Chalon, R. A. (1780-1860), was elected R.A. in 1816. In 1837, the Queen commissioned Chalon to paint her inaugural visit to the House of Lords, leading to his appointment as Painter in Water-Colour to the Queen. In addition to watercolors, Chalon worked in miniature and in oils. Examples of his work may be seen in the Victoria & Albert, the British Museum and the Royal Collection.
