William Armfield Hobday (1771-1831) exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1794-1831. He
worked in Bristol and Bath in addition to London, and in all three cities
attracted a fashionable clientele. When in Bristol, Hobday met George
Chinnery. During that time, their work bears strong similarities. Hobday's
self-portrait is in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum.
