signed & dated 1924.

This superb miniature is 6 3/4 inches high.

Set in the original gilt metal pendant frame with cast foliate border.  It is signed Alyn Williams. 1924, lower right.

Alyn Williams, PRMS (1865-1955), served as president of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, was vice-president of the Imperial Art League and a member of the Philadelphia Society of Miniature Painters.  Williams exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Salon de Paris, the R.M.S. and the United States, where he had a distinguished clientelle, 1890-1914.  Williams sitters included King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.  His portrait of President William Howard Taft is in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
