Henry Fox, 1st Baron Holland

Henry Fox , 1st Baron Holland (1705-1774) was described as the most unpopular politician of his day. The Oxford educated aristocrat, who married Lady Caroline Lennox, daughter of the Duke of Richmond, served as Lord of the Treasury, Secretary of War, Leader of the House of Commons and Paymaster General of the British Forces. The last post provided him an immense private fortune. A personal favorite of George II, Fox used his influence and fortune to pave the way for his equally cunning son, Charles James Fox.

Christian Friederich Zincke (1683/4-1767) was certainly the most important and prolific enamel miniaturist working in England during the first half of the 18th century. Born in Dresden, he was trained as a goldsmith before moving to London in 1706 to study with Charles Boit. His own pupils included Jeremiah Meyer, William Prewett and Jean Rouquet. Zincke's distinguished clientele included George II and the Duke of Portland. His work is represented in virtually ever major museum collection.
