A lady by Mme de Mirbel, signed & dated 1833.  

Set in the original stamped gilt bronze frame, signed right edge, Lizinka de Mirbel, 1833.  

3 3/4 inches (9.4 cm) high.  

Mirbel, Mme Aimée Zoé Lizinka de, née Rue (1796-1849),painter to King Louis XVIII, studied with Augustin.  She, in turn, trained most of the important French miniaturists of the mid-19th century.  Mme de Mirbel's sitters included Charles X, and the Duke of Orleans.  Her works may be seen in the collections of the Louvre and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
